On the 6th, 7th, and 8th of April 2024, Raba Organization for Development and Capacity Building, with the support of Peace and Freedom Organization, held a special workshop titled "Training Course for Youth and Women on Podcast Production Skills" in the district of Sheikhan.

This workshop is part of an initiative aimed at using podcasts as a means to combat hate speech on social media platforms, as well as empowering the youth and women in the region to acquire the necessary skills to produce purposeful podcasts that contribute to promoting the values of dialogue, tolerance, and spreading a culture of peace.

This initiative comes in light of the political circumstances and conflicts in the region, where hate speech is increasing among various religious, national, and ethnic groups, often leading to outbreaks of violence and extremism, thus emphasizing the urgent need for initiatives that work to combat this dangerous phenomenon.

The district of Sheikhan, located between Dohuk and Nineveh, is considered an ideal place to host this type of event due to the diversity of its population and its national and religious components.

The workshop witnessed extensive participation from young people and women who are conscious and enthusiastic about contributing to building a tolerant and open society.

The workshop activities extended over three consecutive days, during which a series of lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions were conducted to provide participants with the necessary skills to produce meaningful podcast content that spreads the values of peace, tolerance, and enhances a culture of dialogue and peaceful coexistence.

At the end of the workshop, the participants expressed their admiration for the rich content of the workshop and the significant benefit they gained from it, committing to applying the skills and knowledge they acquired to build a more tolerant and peacefully coexisting society.

It is important to note that this activity was organized by Raba Organization for Development and Capacity Building in collaboration with Peace and Freedom Organization (PFO), with support from the Search for Common Ground organization (SFCG) under the participatory grant-making in JISRA (PGM in JISRA).
